Work In Progress

By Glennel Hardy

This past week marked the ten year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.  When we look back at the devastation and how many years it took to rebuild afterwards, we see a more determined and powerful New Orleans.

In our own personal history we can look back at some devastation points that occurred in our lives, where the rebuilding process may still continue through today.  The most important lesson that we can take from Katrina, and any devastation, is that with determination we can rebuild once again.

The way I see it devastation allows us the opportunity to build something new. What we may have thought of being the best of all things, there is something that comes behind it, that’s even better.

We are all a “work in progress”, we tore something down in order to build something brand new.  A “work in progress” takes determination, some sweat, and especially some tears, but we can and must rebuild.

If things are not moving as fast as you would like them to be, it doesn’t mean you’re not making progress, it means you’re building a masterpiece. The more time and patience we put into rebuilding our masterpiece, the better off our end result will be.

Fitted for the Moment

At any given time we’re called upon to go above and beyond that in which we have set our own expectations. The moment that we rise to the occasion and complete that which we thought we would never accomplish, a tremor rushes through our body.

We all at several points in our lives are “fitted for the moment.”  It’s the moment that the greatness that has been instilled within us comes forth, and wonderful things begin to happen.

The Moment It Happens

Optimism Thought of the Week

The Unexpected

To some the unexpected can be unwelcoming and intrusive once it appears. We have a very important decision to make once were confronted with it, do we fear it or do we embrace it.

The series of unexpected events are guideposts along life’s highway. The unexpected sometime forces us to make the change that we for the longest put off.

The unexpected has the ability to make tomorrow different for each one of us, and has the potential to bring us to a new path that we never knew existed.

Being Mindful

Being Mindful

It’s very important for us to embrace the events that occur within our lives.  Those events that occur shapes and builds the character of the person that we become later in life.  The scars that we develop over time, serve as a reminder of areas in which we no longer wish to return.

Without scars there would be no lessons to be taught, no experiences to share, no history to reflect and share with others.

The individual that we are today is a representation of what we chose to do once we were scarred, and our outlook on how we view tomorrow.

You’re The Brand

Optimism Thought of the Week

You’re The Brand

Every day is not going to go as perfect or as great as we may have planned. The advantage that we have on any given day, is the way we respond to it. We are the brand. What that clearly means is, that once we wake up and begin our day, and join society, we’re advertising ourselves. We’re telling the world this is the person I am, and this is why I am so intriguing.

You must believe in you the brand, or no one else will believe in your brand which is you. If you get knocked down, so have many other successful people that have risen once again. The brand will not be resurrected by no one else, but by you alone. – Glennel Hardy

The Unknown

The Unknown

The unexpected, though may be frightening to some, can be encouraging to others depending on whom you ask, and the current environment and events. For example I could ask, what are your expectations for tomorrow? Will you base your expectations on tomorrow, on what is happening in your life today?

The unexpected can either be embraced or it can be feared. If you choose to embrace it, you’re opening yourself up for something new. This could mean, a new job, finding someone new in your life, or beginning a brand new chapter. If this is the type of change you are looking for, this is part of embracing the unexpected.  – Glennel Hardy

Silence

Optimism Thought of the Week

Silence

There is a beauty in silence. Have you ever walked along the beach, and there was nothing but silence that surrounded you, just you and the waves rushing against the shore? Silence is a valuable commodity, silence represents power, and resilience.

In a world where everyone has something to say, very few keep silent. Does the one whom remain silent, eventually becomes the most influential in the crowd?
